Meeting Up with the Johnson's

We have not seen KJ, Ahna or the kiddos for quite some time- pretty much because KJ has been busy training to be a doctor out on the east coast.  We were able to meet up with them when they headed home for a week at a local park.  Although it was really hot, the kids were able to play, the adults were able to talk and everyone was able to get wet in the spring fountain- a good way to end a great visit.

2nd Track Meet

We headed back to the races this week.  This time, both Shay and Alyssa ran, along with Patrick, Annika and our neighbor friend Emma.  Like before we ended the night with a trip to DQ, which hit the spot after a very warm evening.

Fun at Grandma and Grandpas

Shay was able to spend some special "alone" time with Grandpa and Grandma last week.  Grandpa picked her up in Rochester and he and Shay surprised cousin Taylor at her daycare- I heard that went over very well :)  The next couple days were filled with fun activities for the girls- a trip to the library, story hour, fun at an indoor adventure park, the children's museum, movie night and tons of attention from the grandparents.  Shay had such a good time and has been talking about it since.  Thanks Papa Mark and Grandma Stacy for some fun filled days!

So excited!

Side Note: What Happened After the Track Meet

The previous post was about the track meet and how nice a night it was-- which it was- beautiful weather, good friends, excited kids.  However, we had a slightly different situation once we got home.
When we got home after DQ, it was well past bedtime, but I think the girls had some energy from the sugar recently consumed.  Shay wanted to ride her scooter and Lyssa wanted to blow bubbles outside.  Brett said "okay" and then went to start the sprinklers.  I ran inside to go to the bathroom, and by the time I came out chaos had erupted.  When I walked back outside, Shay who was standing at the top of the driveway had an accident (which hasn't happened in a LONG time, so it was a bit of a surprise).  She immediately started crying.  I went over and tried to help her take her now soaking wet tights and shoes off, when I look down the driveway and Alyssa is jumping in the new "puddle". Yuck.   Shay is now half naked and still crying, I yell for Brett and go get Alyssa who now also needs a bath.  Brett appears and had spilled fertilizer all over himself, so he was not able to even touch the girls and headed off for the shower.  I picked up Alyssa, who was now upset because she come inside and take a bath.  I headed in, with 2 crying, smelly, dirty girls- one in each arm and thought "wow things can sure change fast".  Didn't laugh that night, but did the next day!

Shay's 1st Track Meet

Every summer the Rochester Track Club hosts a free track meet every Tuesday night for kiddos 2 and up.  We decided to hit up the first one this year with the Bliss family.  Shay and Patrick each completed 3 races, and got ribbons for each one.  For the 200m race, Shay finished her best-- 3rd place.  Patrick was also a very fast runner, though next time he will work on his starts.  Annika finished a race, but Alyssa decided it wasn't for her this year.  Both little girls did a good job eating a picnic dinner.  After the meet all 8 of us headed to DQ for a post run ice cream treat.

1st (Successful) Sleepover

Shay has been asking for the last while to have a sleepover with Alyssa.  She has had sleepovers with her friends Breck and Owen, but we haven't had success with the sisters sleeping in the same room.  In the past they have kept each other up to the point of everyone being really tired.  But, we just accomplished a successful sister sleep over- with lots of blankets, 2 pillow pets and a couple of stuffed animals.  They talked, complained and laughed for about 45 minutes before falling asleep!  Yes!  As parents, it was a sweet, fun moment.
